EightyOne-Guidance

Okay, so I hope you all will realize that I didn't actually make this card. I know, it's kind of hard to tell. :) I did help guide my niece toward making this card after she was so helpful and took about ten years of the extra buttons that come with your pants, jackets, and button down shirts and sweaters out of the little individual bags and put them in a container. I am enjoying the button idea but, pardon the pun, I need to button down and start getting serious for the rest of this project as I actually have a lot of different cards I really do need to make.

SixtyThree-Hi

The top one is my card and the bottom one is a card I saw in a magazine that was given to me to use for inspiration. Going through it I was honestly surprised by the number of "pre-crafted" items used to create these cards. Even this simple design in the magazine requires some kind of stones and rub on transfer letters. My more colorful version had neither.

FiftyNine-Another Variation on a Previous Theme

This is a great combination of some stamps I already had combined with some new ones I just received. I don't know what it is about this particular flower stamp I love, but I do love it. This, by the way, will hopefully be my last time "cheating" by using each side of the book mark as a different piece. I really didn't coordinate these two sides though so they definitely stand apart as two separate pieces. The ones I'm working on now gel together slightly better.

FiftySix-Thistles?

So I actually like this one and the parts I like the best are betrayed by my shitty scanner! The greens appear yellowish and the purples appear blueish but overall I like the design and green and purple are my favorite colors. See the next post for the much more simplified second side.

Forty-You Belong Among the Wildflowers

Seriously I swear I own a ruler! I will make use of it before these hundred days are over.

TwentySeven-Bloomsday

Yes, I know "Bloomsday" has nothing to do with flowers whether they are in bloom or not but I am running out of clever titles and this just felt right. I think if I had spent a little more time on this it could have been really something. Honestly, I am doing this to have fun but I do want to try to keep up and not do almost 40 pieces in one Diet Pepsi, Vicodin, and Parliament 100's filled weekend like last year. I am trying to find the balance between enjoyment and discipline and like I alluded to in my previous piece, I will keep going until it is "just right."

TwentyThree-Now That's a Card

Well, I may actually be somewhat happy with one of these. I spent probably the most time on this one and it's so darn cute that there is really only one recipient in the world worthy of it: Babcie. (That would be my grandmother.) I wonder if all that shrinkable plastic will require extra postage?

TwentyOne-(100) Days of Summer

For some reason this $1.00 find rubber stamp reminds me of the hilariously cheesy card Joseph Gordon-Levitt comes up with for his friend in (500) Days of Summer: "Every day I'm proud of you, but today you get a card." Or something like that. Anyway, I really wanted to do a vase with flowers in shrinkable plastic but, big surprise, it didn't quite come out how I was hoping it would so I kind of slapped it together with this stamp and here it is. I am definitely going to try it again as I get better though because I think there is real potential in making it look really good.

Twelve-No Flower Left Uncolored

I didn't exactly make a card today because I wanted to get some new stamps to get some inspiration because I was feeling stuck. Instead of being inspired to make a card I was inspired to play with my inspiration. I had a good time playing with different stamping and coloring techniques. Now I have some choices/ideas for future projects.

Seven-Aloha

So where to begin with this mess? I tried using my cutting tool freehand hence the vaguely but not quite surfboard shaped part in the middle. Yikes! I do like the cut outs of the flowers though the one on the left that is hidden is hidden because I tried to add some hand coloring on it and it didn't quite have the look I wanted so... Also, I just found out I spelled the person's name wrong so I am going to redo it anyway but at least I got to try out some different techniques and see what works and what doesn't. I do like the flower in the bottom right that I curled up a little to look more life like.

Three-If Thoughts Were Flowers

I forgot to take the picture before writing the personal message so, sorry for the TMI. Also, I need to figure out how to photograph these better as the true colors are not coming through. This is much more pink than it appears in the photo, especially the back piece which looks brown here.

Okay, enough about that. So one of the coolest type of tool I have found is a border punch-available in many styles, but I am having a heck of a time getting it to line up properly from punch to punch and have absolutely no idea how to handle the corners. Believe it or not, this is actually one of the best aligned ones I've done so far, with the exception of the raggedy corners.
