EightySeven-Elizabeth Two

Stupid scanner with the dulling out of the sparkly pink paper and the "smudge" marks.

EightyFour-Kirigami

Mesmerized by Beth Stone's unbelievable paper cuts, I couldn't resist trying my hand at it when I saw this book on kirigami (with paper!) in the bargain aisle at Barnes and Noble. I picked the first and most simple pattern and still struggled a little but overall I like the effect. The two little tendrils on the outside are supposed to facing the other way but being the measure none, cut once person I am the card wasn't long enough to fit the curls in the "right" direction, so I just turned them 180 degrees.

SixtyThree-Hi

The top one is my card and the bottom one is a card I saw in a magazine that was given to me to use for inspiration. Going through it I was honestly surprised by the number of "pre-crafted" items used to create these cards. Even this simple design in the magazine requires some kind of stones and rub on transfer letters. My more colorful version had neither.

I ran out of the precut bookmarks and had to start cutting my own. But it gives me a variety of colors to work with which I think is pretty cool. Here is one I made inspired by someones business card. When I talk to her next if she says it's OK I will post the business card as well so you all can see the inspiration piece.

FiftySeven-Circles

What a great idea bookmarks are. They're small and I can get away with getting two pieces out of one! Same colors as before-the green is yellowish but this time the purple scanned almost grayish. Anyway, simple, but cute. We may have a winner here folks!

FiftySix-Thistles?

So I actually like this one and the parts I like the best are betrayed by my shitty scanner! The greens appear yellowish and the purples appear blueish but overall I like the design and green and purple are my favorite colors. See the next post for the much more simplified second side.

Seven-Aloha

So where to begin with this mess? I tried using my cutting tool freehand hence the vaguely but not quite surfboard shaped part in the middle. Yikes! I do like the cut outs of the flowers though the one on the left that is hidden is hidden because I tried to add some hand coloring on it and it didn't quite have the look I wanted so... Also, I just found out I spelled the person's name wrong so I am going to redo it anyway but at least I got to try out some different techniques and see what works and what doesn't. I do like the flower in the bottom right that I curled up a little to look more life like.
